These pages are a celebration and archive of our sporting success. Dulwich boys are passionate about sport. The London 2012 Olympics demonstrated that we are a nation of committed and talented sportsmen and women. Post 2012 Dulwich has seen an explosion in the popularity of Olympic sports at the College in addition to our traditional team games. Rugby sevens will feature in Rio 2016 and we hope that Old Alleynians may grace the team as we look to build on the example of Kieran West MBE, OA who won gold in the Men’s Eight in Sydney 2000.
What strikes me is the focus and concentration written on the faces of the boys in all teams, competing at all levels. I am very proud of the levels of participation and inclusion that we achieve for the boys. I am particularly pleased to see boys progress through teams to represent the College in first team sport. It is a wonderful reflection on the work of our coaching staff as they recognise, develop and reward talent.
Of course sport is a global business. Sponsorship, technology and professionalism are the sporting future. However, although we aspire to national success and winning, we also insist on the old fashioned and positive virtues of amateurism by playing sport competitively, purposefully and in the right spirit.
